The life of a touring musician is a difficult one, not least when it comes to keeping up with your favorite shows. But Neko Case evidently caught this week’s “Mad Men,” as evidenced by her rebuttal to this backhanded Playboy compliment:

In case you missed Sunday’s episode, “The Strategy,” for the love of God, watch it now. But if only part of it slipped your mind, recall Pete Campbell’s oblivious attempt to defend Peggy’s professional skills: “She’s every bit good as any woman in the business” — which, 306 years after the fact, pointedly recalls Samuel Johnson’s comments about women in the pulpit: “Sir, a woman’s preaching is like a dog’s walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.”

Case, whom Playboy‘s readers once deemed “the Sexiest Woman in Indie Rock,” turned down an offer to pose for the magazine, but evidently she’s been keeping up with the latest trends in pubic styling:
