It’s never too early to upgrade your TV. Spending more time at home means that we won’t be going out to movie theaters as much, but that doesn’t have to stop you from having a cinematic experience.

Thanks to streaming platforms, and new technology in flat screen TVs, you can easily turn your home into a movie theater without depleting your bank account.  Gone are the days of having to purchase bulky projectors or huge TVs to make your viewing experience feel like a movie screen. In fact, the size of the TV doesn’t really matter, it’s all about the quality.

One of the words that you may be seeing a lot when online shopping for the perfect flat screen television is 4k resolution, which basically means 4,000 pixels. The technology itself feels somewhat like the new kid on the block, but as we get deeper into the year, you’ll probably hear “4K” more often. Another term that may be confusing, but you’ll definitely see when shopping for a TV, is OLED vs. LED. In short, LED TVs are available in 1080mHD and 4K, whereas OLED TVs are only available in 4K.

Unless you already know what you’re looking for, buying the right TV can get confusing. With so many models to pick from, we put together a list of the best flat screen TVs for movie lovers. See our list below.

Sony x950H 65-Inch 4K LED TV

A slim, flush design feature a thin bezel, the x950h model features Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, x-motion clarity technology, HDR, Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced, Netflix calibrated modes, a full-array LED blacklight, and more.

Writes on user, “We bought the 65″ version of the Sony X950H 4K LED TV after comparing it [too] many other TV’s. As has been mentioned in numerous professional reviews, the out-of-the-box picture quality is just astounding without making any adjustments. With crisp, accurate colors and excellent dynamic range, this thing is a joy to behold in action. When playing full 4K, Dolby Vision-enabled HDR content in the right lighting conditions, this set produces images that practically make your eyes water with the amount of detail on display. Off-axis viewing is also much better than I was expecting and, thanks to very good peak brightness, you can still enjoy excellent picture quality even in brightly lit rooms.”

LG OLED 65-Inch Smart TV

The Alexa-enabled LG OLED Smart TV offers stunning picture quality, surround sound, and blue-tooth capabilities, just to name a few. This wall mountable television is available in sizes ranging from 48 inches to 75 inches, and the set up is pretty easy. Writes one user, “Setup couldn’t be easier. I had my cable box connected thru HDMI and my PS4 connected thru HDMI as well. Then I turned on the TV for the first time. Over the course of a few minutes the TV detected everything that was plugged in and asked a question “are these the correct components plugged in?” Aside from providing the wifi password I didn’t have to get involved in the setup at all.”

I would recommend this and have recommended this tv to friends and family. Video quality is what you expect for 4K HDR10. Sound quality of Dolby Audio is great. Wish it had just a couple more Watts, but it does its job. The built in Android TV, Chromecast and Google assistant makes everything super easy and frees up all the HDMI ports for real sources.”

You’re all signed in to all your Google stuff. I like the Android TV interface a lot. Easy to use, easy to find things, easy to install apps. I put all my favorites on the home screen (Netflix, HBO, Prime Video, Hulu, Disney, Pluto, Tune In Radio, Fandango, Sirius XM, and so on) so no need for me to have additional dongles hanging out of the back of the TV which means fewer power cords to worry about as well.”
