Musical director Giles Martin created his own wall of sound for the wild “Rocket Man” and the uplifting “Crocodile Rock” sequences.
David Geffen made his first appearance at the Palais in 30 years to support John, who performed live with the actor who plays him, Taron Egerton.
The director said he “was not emotionally attached” to “Bohemian Rhapsody,” but he promises a more honest Elton John musical biopic.
Dexter Fletcher also directed “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which received similar criticism.
After finishing production on the Freddie Mercury drama “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Dexter Fletcher next turns to the life of Elton John.
Director Bryan Singer was removed from the film and replaced by Dexter Fletcher weeks before production was set to wrap.
20th Century Fox hired Fletcher to take over for Singer in early December, but the English filmmaker won’t walk away with the final credit.
He doesn’t know if he or Singer will receive directing credit for the film, and says “it doesn’t matter.”
