It's an oft-repeated story: If you write to author Judy Blume, she just might write back. And when filmmaker Kelly Fremon Craig wrote to her, it changed everything.
"The Edge of Seventeen" filmmaker Kelly Fremon Craig is two-for-two with another wonderfully, warmly made coming-of-age comedy.
"It's getting a lot scarier," co-director Leah Wolchok told IndieWire of the political repercussions of YA novel censorship.
"No child is going to become transgender or gay or lesbian because they read a book," the beloved YA author said. "It’s not going to happen."
The TV show from Mara Brock Akil will reimagine the main characters of 1975 young adult novel "Forever" as Black teenagers.
