A report claims that investigators are pursuing a possibility that the actor faked last month’s attack as a response to being written off the Fox show “Empire.”
TCA: Fox producers and CEO Charlie Collier also gave an update on the status of the show.
The actor and singer was violently assaulted earlier this week.
“My body is strong but my soul is stronger,” the “Empire” actor said in a statement made to Essence magazine.
The “Empire” actor was hospitalized on January 29 after being attacked by two men in Chicago.
“Jussie, you are my son,” Daniels said in an emotional video to the “Empire” actor, who was the victim of a racist, homophobic attack.
Smollett is best known for his role as Jamal Lyon on the Lee Daniels series.
