“Thank you for capturing female anguish and rage… on film,” Stone tells Ducournau, whom she handed the Palme d’Or to back in July.
“I’m not going to work until all of our sets are vaccinated, ” Stone told SAG-AFTRA members. “And you shouldn’t either.”
“She knew exactly what we were doing,” Verhoeven said.
“Viola Davis is every bit the actress Meryl Streep is,” Stone said. “Emma Thompson. Judy Davis. Olivia Colman. Kate Winslet, for fuck’s sake.”
A 4K restoration of “Basic Instinct,” overseen by Paul Verhoeven himself, is releasing around the world this summer.

Stone was a producer on 1995’s “The Quick and the Dead” and fought the studio to hire DiCaprio and director Sam Raimi.
“I went to the projection booth, slapped Paul [Verhoeven] across the face, left, went to my car, and called my lawyer.”
Stone has had her fair share of brushes with #MeToo experiences, and recently detailed one that made her feel “terrified.”
