The actor is set to reprise his role as Jesus in the film, which Gibson previously deemed "a huge undertaking."
Pitt also says that Gibson's 2006 film "Apocalypto" is a "great film."

According to one critic, a new film about Jesus may be exactly what Christian audiences need to forgive Gibson.
"Braveheart" screenwriter Randall Wallace says he is writing the script, which Gibson will direct.
